When we return back to my grandpa's house, Javin is sitting outside on the stoop. He's dressed this time—which is good—I won't accidentally knee him in the junk again. The dude rushes over to open the driver’s side car door for me, like a gentleman, and I can see why he's the fastest. Javin politely helps me out, not bothering to do anything for Jade or Saulo.

“What are you doing?” I ask, curious about his intentions.

“I’ve come to tell you that I'm the next in line for a date!” he preens, and I raise a brow at his audacity.

“Don't you think that should be my choice?”

“Probably,” Javin shrugs, “but we decided that it would be favoritism if you picked who was next. So, we battled it out between us to see who would go next—and I won.”

“Uh huh, and what exactly did you win—besides this date with me?”

“A race, of course!” he laughs.

I smirk.

“Well, considering how you're supposed to be the fastest, how on Earth did you sucker the others into doing that?”

“Oh, their egos are bigger than their brains,” Javin winks, making me laugh in delight.

He's right, though.

Not about their egos being bigger than their brains—although, I suspect it’s true—but that I don't want to give any of the candidates grounds for saying there's any kind of bias for one over another. I might choke a bitch if I have to do another courtship or some equally effed-up shit. Having said that, I do kind of like Javin and probably would’ve picked him next if I had the choice. The guy’s easy-going and funny. He also doesn't treat me like I'm a piece of meat and more like a person.

To be fair, only my grandpa seems to treat me like I’m a bargaining tool.

“So what are we doing for our date?” I demand.

“You'll see,” Javin sings as he dashes off, and I shake my head.

These wolves will be the death of me, I swear.

Saulo and Jade join me as we walk back into the house. There's a lot of commotion inside, even though it's late, but Saulo told me werewolves are mostly nocturnal. Any other time, this might be a conflict because I was raised a human and have been awake my entire daytime life—but I’m nineteen and living up my life right now which means party all night and sleep most of the day.

Except when I have classes. I would never sleep through those…

Thank the Christmas Jesus that my college doesn’t give two shits about attendance.

Once Jayden and Saulo enter the foyer, they go their separate ways, not even looking at one another. I guess when everyone else can smell pheromones and stuff, the two omegas have to be cautious so no one else can suspect their relationship. My heart bleeds for them, and I wish they could have something more instead of one secret date.

They didn’t even get to kiss—let alone bang.

I mean, that’s what first dates are for, aren’t they?

Heaving a sigh, I take the lazy human option—a.
